OVERBUILDING OF THE EXISTING BUILDING

The existing building of the University of Erlangen was overbuilt by one level.

As an extension of the University Hospital in Erlangen, a new laboratory for stem cell research in modular design was created. The development includes offices and research laboratories, as well as an additional technical level. The modules, weighing up to 50 tons, were craned over an adjacent existing building with two cranes in just three days and then assembled. The extension took place while maintaining ongoing operations.

The laboratories were designed according to GMP requirements and achieve the GMP cleanroom classes B, C and D.
